The Under-7s from Camberley Rugby Club enjoyed a fantastic morning of rugby this weekend as they travelled to the Minis Festival hosted by Wimbledon Rugby Football Club. This was the squad’s first festival outing of the year and their fourth festival of the 2025/26 season, making it a brilliant opportunity to get back into match play after a long spell of poor weather and limited rugby since January.
Camberley were represented by three teams, made up of boys and girls of all abilities, all proudly wearing black and gold. Despite the recent interruptions to training, the players quickly found their feet and delivered a wonderful display of enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination throughout the morning. It was great to see the children rediscover their rhythm so quickly, supporting each other and playing with real confidence across all pitches.

Each of the three Camberley teams played four matches, with games running throughout the morning before wrapping up around 1pm. As the festival progressed, there were plenty of standout moments — from excellent running lines and confident passing to committed tagging and moments of real creativity. Most importantly, the players clearly enjoyed being back on the pitch with their teammates, playing against new opposition and embracing the fun and excitement of festival rugby.

Festivals like this are an important part of minis rugby. They give young players the chance to develop their skills, challenge themselves in a supportive environment, and experience the buzz of match days — and the Wimbledon festival delivered all of that and more.
A big thank you goes to all the parents, grandparents, and families who gave up their Sunday morning to bring the players to Wimbledon and cheer them on from the touchline. Your support and encouragement help make days like this possible, and it’s hugely appreciated by the players and coaches alike.
