The girls travelled to the Cobham Festival today and showed exactly what they’re made of — determination, teamwork, courage and plenty of fight!

They faced some tough opposition throughout the day, including Rosslyn Park/Barnes/Ironsides, Chobham, Irish, Reeds & Valkyries, and every game brought a new challenge.

But the Guilberley girls stuck to their game plans, communicated well and, most importantly, kept supporting each other right to the final whistle. And what a way to finish! The girls dug deep in their final game against Old Reigatian, holding their heads high and battling to a well-deserved draw.

New Players, New Challenges

A huge shout-out to Bella, Megan and Katie, who only joined the team this week after moving up from U12’s. They were thrown straight into U14 rugby — a completely different level and a big step outside their comfort zones!

All three took on wing for the first time, with Bella, Megan and Katie showing bravery and enthusiasm. Bella looks to be made for this position. Katie and Megan also stepped up to play prop, taking on yet another new challenge and working brilliantly to create opportunities, support the play and help the team on the try line.

And they weren't the only newcomers!

We also had girls from Guildford who were completely new to rugby, stepping onto the pitch and taking on the challenge alongside the more experienced players. To see girls with little or no previous rugby experience throwing themselves into festival rugby was fantastic — and a real credit to the welcoming, supportive environment the team is building.

A Team in the Making. For a newly formed squad, there was so much to be proud of today.
New players. New positions. New combinations. Tough opposition.
But the girls stuck together, communicated, encouraged each other and never gave up.
That is what makes a team.

And today, the Guilberley U14 Girls showed that they are very much a team on the rise!
Well done girls — you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

Bring on the next one!
