The Junior Academy Blacks were grateful guests at Guildford this weekend, with the home side kindly offering their pitches—some of the few still playable after weeks of relentless rain. With Camberley’s own grounds struggling under the conditions, the opportunity to get valuable game time was much appreciated.
Guildford started strongly and quickly took control of the match, dominating possession and territory from the outset. Their physicality and organisation put Camberley under sustained pressure, and despite some determined defensive efforts, the home side were able to build a commanding lead as the game progressed.
Camberley’s standout moment came through Fraser, who broke through to score a well‑earned try, giving the Blacks a lift and showing the resilience they’re known for. Unfortunately, the conversion drifted wide, and Guildford continued to dictate the pace of the match.
Despite flashes of strong tackling and moments of promise, Camberley found it difficult to turn pressure into points against a confident and well‑drilled Guildford side. The hosts maintained their momentum throughout, ultimately securing a 44–5 victory.
While the result wasn’t in Camberley’s favour, the match provided valuable experience and highlighted areas to build on. The Blacks showed grit in challenging conditions and will take important lessons forward as they continue their development.
