Camberley recorded a really good win today against a strong Farnham B team. With three players making their debut (Rob, Jake and Evan), and others who’ve only played a handful of matches, this was a strong display from a fast-developing squad.

It was very much a game of two halves.

Farnham started strongly sending their direct runners down the middle. Camberley struggled with first up tackles going down by two tries and a conversion in the first ten minutes.

Camberley had the strong wind in their favour too, and despite good field position in the final ten minutes of the first half, didn’t convert pressure into points.

The half time score was 12-0 to Farnham.

To their credit, Farnham were well drilled and defended well. They filled the pitch so Camberley had to work a bit harder to get some go forward up the middle.

Coach Dai’s team talk obviously worked wonders.

Jonah carried hard all day and scored a well-deserved try. And then our flyer Hayden got the ball in space and scored a brace in short order; suddenly Camberley looked well in control and didn’t look back.

The self-defined “bomb squad” (Tom, Reece and Joe) off the bench did make a difference and we started to win more rucks and got some strong carries when they came on.

Camberley really then dominated the rest of the match, with Reece taking his try well.

Oscar was 100% from the kicking tee.

Ashton was deserved player of the match.

Four wins from four matches… And a block of three training sessions before we face Vandals at their place which will be another tough test.

Exciting times!
