2s satisfied with their double header warm up

The 2s completed their pre season warmup with a half against Dorking followed by a half against Richmond on a breezy Saturday at Watchetts.
With loads of players still unavailable the side looked distinctly different from the all conquering side of last season but the familiar sight of TJ, captain for the day was some consolation and he clearly led very vocally from the front and to the relief of some of the more regular supporters the hooker also took his responsibilities very seriously and managed to stay clothed for the entire afternoon.
The first half saw Cam take on Dorking 2s and after a scrappy first 20 in which 2 Ben Bowen tries were matched by the opposition the black and ambers settled into their game and were clearly on top in the final 10 minutes when they had several opportunities to add to their score only to be let down by the final pass so the game ended at 2 tries each.
The half against Richmond created different challenges for the home side as the game became far less structured and despite 2 outstanding tries by TommyA and another piece of sheer class from the veteran when he picked up the final Cam restart on the Richmond 10m line from his boot laces to start a move which should have produced the equalising try, Richmond managed to shade the game 3 tries to 2.
Overall a positive afternoon for 2s coach Tommo, some encouraging performances from a number of the side from last season together with new boys Matt, Ricky and Harry, so much to work on when he has a full squad but very promising.
