Cam overcome the chaos of the M3 to win comfortably at Tottonians

Camberley visited Tottonians near Southampton for the first time in seven years. The match then played after heavy rain overnight and during the morning which had then stopped shortly before the match.
Camberley were soon in their stride as the forwards showed early dominance and bringing the backs into play with their slick passing . The first try was scored by wing Ash Wright after 12 minutes but it was not until the half hour and much territory control that the second arrived. This was also scored by Ash Wright and with both converted by fly half Smarty it was 14 nil.
Ten minutes later and it was 26 nil. Firstly centre Josh Lewanituva burst through to score wide out the try unconverted. Then good drives from the forwards after a line out saw prop Greg Franzel over with Smarty adding the points. With the interval looming the game looked comfortable for Cam as two more scores arrived. A good break then saw scrum half Tom Youngs over but unconverted. Then well into added time through again for the flying fijian this time converted by Smarty.
At 38 nil and play still on Totts scored a merited try under the posts as due reward for ongoing efforts. So 38 7 at the hallway stage and six tries for Camberley.
Clearly bucked by the score Totts took just three minutes to score again the try converted so 38 14. Cam needed to step up following these two scores and after ten minutes their pressure saw two more tries scored. The first was a neat set of backs play with full back Gary Hardy scoring a under the posts duly converted. Then after a good attack by Totts they lost the ball mid field for the attack by Cam far out right and winger Oyoni was over this unconverted. After 23 minutes Ash was over for his try number three converted by Gary Hardy. So 57 14 and seventeen minutes remaining.
More to follow as after 27 minutes substitute flanker Henry Petch was over for try number ten and converted by Gary saw the score to 64 14. But the hard working hosts Totts kept going and were soon rewarded with two tries and a deserved point from the match. They scored after 32 and 36 minutes both unconverted. Then deep into added time they had the final score also unconverted. So a scoreline of 64 29 to Camberley in a good encounter played in heavy conditions. Cam scored ten tries with seven converted to continue their good points for and against record.
With Medway losing to Brighton Cam now take second slot and await next week to visit by Medway to complete the first half of the season.

Camberley tries : Ash Wright (3) Josh Lewanituva (2) Greg Franzel Tom Youngs Gary Hartley Oyoni Gbla Henry Petch. Conversions : Matt Smart (5) Gary Hartley (2)
And Finally – the C&Ws comfortably beat The Warriors at Castle Grim, scoring 6 tries in the process however the highlight was probably the long awaited appearance of Big Franco our awesome new Springbok lock who with Kriel are sure to become local heroes very quickly

[i]Many thanks to Neil for stepping in at very short notice to produce the report, despite having taken almost 3 hours to reach the ground (a normal journey takes less than an hour) = a noble feat indeed/i]
