In another display of breathtaking rugby Cam put a plucky Eastleigh to the sword scoring 11 tries.

Following their big improvement last week at Gosport the big question was could this continue and, despite a couple of periods when the black and ambers relaxed overall, this was another excellent performance with periods of quite outstanding rugby and despite their courage and determination the visitors had no answer to Cams awesome attacking skills or their aggressive defence and in the end were so overwhelmed that despite fighting hard for 80 mins they had not managed to trouble the scorers.
With rain threatening Cam kicked off playing away from the clubhouse and were soon on the attack and after pinching their first lineout the ball was swung out wide on a couple of occasions and the Flying Fijian charged through a huge gap to touch down with just 5 mins on the clock with TommyD adding the extras.
Play then became a tad scrappy with Cam losing too much possession in the tackle but their pressure eventually brought a penalty which TommyD converted after 18 mins.
Then, from the restart, we saw Cam at their best when initiaall a poor pass was bravely rescued by young prop Nick and when the ball was recycled Mac and Ash both took the ball into the visitors half before releasing winger Jamie who burned off the defence to cross for a try which TommyD converted making the score 17-0 after 20 mins.
This drill was repeated from the restart when this time it was our Fijian Flyer who took the ball back into the opposition 22 and showing good patience we eventually saw the ball spread wide again and JoshL cut through the defence to score his second on 25 mins and a score of 24-0.
We then saw a period off possession for the visitors but despite maintaining the ball for at least 20 phases they were effectively pushed back at least 10m by the aggressive Cam defence and in the end ran out of ideas and kicked for touch. In fact from the resulting lineout in the Cam 22 outside half Smarty put in a huge kick and great following up by Jamie meant that the visitors were penalised although Cam were not able to benefit from the resulting 5m lineout and so the half closed.
The second half started with a bang when the Flying Fijian again carved huge gaps in the visitors defence and when he was stopped in the red zone the ball was recycled and the Warrior crashed over to secure the try bonus.
The next score was not long coming as another break by Ash saw him tackled just short of the try line but TK was on hand to collect the flick pass and dot down for a converted try.
We then saw some more magical rugby when at first Steve (I am a winger really) made a great run which was taken on by Hoff and when the ball was sent out wide great hands saw TommyA put Ash over in the corner.
The spectators then saw more magic as from the restart great hands by forwards and backs saw Ash storm over for another try and so with just 51 mins on the clock the score had raced ahead to 46-0.
Inevitably the game became much looser and with a long injury break things quietened for a moment but soon Mr Doody was scurring back to the scoreboard when a good drive by Mac saw the ball moved out wide again via Ash and TommyA before Oyoni crossed for another converted try
Again the tiring visitors saw Cam returning the restart with interest and when Oyoni was held up just short of the line the ball was quickly recycled and a piece of outstanding play saw lock Voighty delay his pass to perfection giving The Warrior the simple task of dotting down. (In fact a truly amazed referee's assessor commented that lock forwards just shouldn't be allowed to do things like that!!!)
With the frenetic pace of the game so far it was inevitable that things would become a bit careless but we saw the ball spun out wide from a scrum on 10m and Ash again, proving that he is the man to catch, burning off the opposition to dot down in the corner and another unlucky kick by Smarty hit the crossbar.
As if this wasn't enough in the dying minutes another scrum on halfway saw the ball again moved quickly and it was Jamie this time slicing through the defence to score making the final score 70-0.
This was an outstanding performance by the team who, despite a few periods when their concentration and energy levels were allowed to drop overall put on a master class in aggressive defence and outstanding attacking rugby.
Clearly the backs were outstanding and in fact they know that with a bit more accuracy they could even have bagged 3 or 4 more tries both wingers JoshL and Jamie, back in the 1s after a couple of weeks off were far too hot for the opposition and TomyA seemed to be everywhere and it was good to see defence coach Ash leading by example with undoubtedly his best defensive performance for some time (as well as scoring a hatful of tries).
The forwards were again on form and it was mainly their aggressive defence which drained the life from the opposition with everyone putting in massive hits as and when required - so another really good shift from them all as they begin to grow into a very useful unit.
So next week we have the long trip to Dover (passports not required) for our National Cup game before the visit to League rivals Old Reigatians on the 25th in what could be a season defining game.
Good news also through the club as the 2s, playing away at Ironsides won 57-20 and the 3s playing Lightwater 1s won 29-0 - so its 2 weeks on the trot that all 3 sides have won and the 2s remain unbeaten so far this season.
And Finally - well the C&Ws saw off Oirish this afternoon in the AWC but all eyes are on next Friday when we are back to the Premiership and the visit of The Sorries.
