Camberley travelled to Totton for this fixture and were well received by what Neil Doody called “lovely people”.
Camberley started brightly and played good rugby without succeeding in exiting from the kick off. When the ball eventually went to Totts they found space on the wing for a converted Try. Totts 7 – 0 Cambs
The ref then missed a knock on from which Totts profited to score a try. Totts 14 – 0 Cambs
From the re start Cambs gained a lineout from which they attacked through the forwards towards the posts and second row Apasai drove over with Lorenzo converting. Totts 14 – 7 Cambs
A succession of scrums followed and Totts scored a try in the corner although the player appeared to have been in touch but the ref gave the score which was converted. Totts 21 – 7 Cambs
Cambs then conceded a soft try from the kick off where their left wing broke infield and scored under the posts Totts 28 – 7 Cambs
Camberely then conceded another soft try off the back of a lineout without the defence laying a finger on them. The lowest point for the Camberley supporters. Totts 35 – 7 Cambs
Half time
Camberley came out in the second half and showed a lot more commitment wining good lineout ball and forwards carrying well through Apasai, JLS, Ollie Davis all getting closer to he lineout where Cambs were awarded a penalty, quickly taken and passed down the line and Hayden put Frank Priest through for a good try converted by Lorenzo Totts 35 – 14 Cambs
Cambs battled hard notably with Ben Mills crossing the line but failing to touch down, but they were always under pressure in the scrum and subjected to further dubious referring when a Totts winger clearly caught the ball in touch and yet was allowed to run on field and proceed to score. Not Cambs day. 2 more tries resulted and the score progressed to Totts 49 – 14 Cambs
Cambs did then score under the posts when having worked up field, Captain Ben Lovell-Smith picked from a ruck and scored under the posts and Lorenzo converted. Totts 49 – 21 Cambs
Cambs were ultimately worn down by the Totts pack and pinned in their 22 conceded another try when the defence ran out. Totts 54 – 21 Cambs
Finally Totts scored again from a scrum under the posts and a converted try Totts 61 – 21 Cambs
Going forward Cambs need to find a bit more steel and show some grit to battle to the end. Totts like Tiffs last week are probably one of the tougher fixtures in the league and Camberley now focus on their home derby with Chobham next Saturday at watchets.
