Tough home match against Bracknell, Camberley scored some hard fought tries but the visitors had the edge and took the win. #CamberleyRugby #COYS

Camberley hosted Bracknell RFC for the last game of the month. Both sides have had the last two week off due to the six nations but this week were ready to go head to head. The time off allowed both sides to work on some of the weakness that had appeared this season as well as some well earnt time off. Camberley were in 10th with Bracknell in 6th.

With the sun out Camberley kick off, and after not long also had the first try of the match. The home side spread the ball to the edge where after a slick off load, Ratu Inoke Rasovasova showed his pace to fly up the side line. An easy first conversion for fly half Jesse Riberio put Camberley on the board (CAM 7 – 0 BRA).

It wasn’t long after the visitors responded to with their own try spreading the ball across the park to score in the corner, quickly followed with a good conversion (CAM 7 – 7 BRA).

Camberley’s lineout began to struggle resulting in possession and field position being lost, this lead to Bracknell’s second try (CAM 7 – 12 BRA).

Regardless of this Camberley would go on to build phases together and prioritising the scrum. After getting into the 22m some slick hands put them into the corner with Jesse Riberio scoring the try (CAM 12 – 12 BRA).

Bracknell soon came back kicking Deeping to Camberley’s half before their winger picked a good line to break the defence (CAM 12 - 19 BRA).

After Camberley mounted up the pressure, they opted to take the points with Jesse Riberio adding 3 points to Camberley’s score (CAM 15 – 19 BRA).

As Camberley’s lineout became a more efficient platform the scrum began to struggle. After a scrum penalty Bracknell kicked to the corner to then launch their own attack. A well-chosen line saw their centre break through and score under the posts for the final play of the half (HT CAM 15 – 26 BRA).

The second half kicked off, and Camberley needed to build their set piece consistency, and they were set to do this after successfully sacking a driving maul, which Ratu Inoke Rasovasova intercepted the ball from. He nearly ran the full pitch but was caught at the opposing 22m. Showing great work rate Camberley flooded through the defensive line where Jesse Riberio scored his second self-converted try (CAM 22 - 26 BRA).

Bracknell worked back to get into the 22m and then earned a scrum penalty before spreading the ball wide to score another converted try (CAM 22 – 33 BRA).

Camberley’s lineout was now up and running and a very effective platform to build numerous phases before flanker Josh Lovell Smith picked a great line fending off the final defender to score by the posts for an easy conversion (CAM 29 – 33 BRA).

A driving maul in Camberley’s 10m gave Bracknell and final try of the day, leaving the final score Camberley 29 and Bracknell 38. Camberley did well to adapt and improve when they were able and fix the lineout. However, there was still inconsistency with the set piece than need to be worked out. The score line as ever didn’t tell the true story of the game.
