Youngsters star in final pre season game

This Saturday Camberley completed their final preseason game v Windsor, The black and ambers ran out 63-20 winners.

Camberley were powerful in the scrum, effective in the lineout and controlled in phase play, This laid the foundation for some excellent possession which resulted in some quality attacking rugby from the home side. Windsor were unable to to withstand the pace and width of the black and ambers attacks seeing Camberley stretch away to a 43-10 half time lead.

The second half saw some changes, this did not stem the flow of tries, although the game became loose which saw Windsor capitalise to score two tries of their own, the coaches and players will ensure to keep this in focus as they face a tough prospect next Saturday away to KCS Old boys one of only two away loses in last seasons campaign.

Preseason has been challenging and has helped the squad prepare for the oncoming league season. The coaching staff have been impressed with how the players have responded to playing teams one or two leagues above them.

Special mentions to Academy products; Nick Barry, Mua Inoke, Ben Lovell-Smith, Shawa Rai and Matt Murphy who have all stepped up from the u18 squad to play and perform in the first xv squad.
The picture shows young prop Nick on the charge leaving a trail of Windsor players in his wake.

On Saturday the 1s start their League programme away at KCS, hoping to improve on their dismal performance there last November while the 2s are at home against Wimbledon 3s - both games to ko at 3.00.

And Finally for all of you C&W supporters - what a way to start the season with a last minute win against last years Champions at Castle Grim - looks like the impact of new head coach JA is already being felt - let's hope that this form continues when they meet the Queens at the Stoop on Saturday.
