Cam conclude their pre season with a comfortable win over Dorset Dockers

Camberley's preparations for the new season in LSW3 have progressed well to date with 2 good wins at the Grasshoppers tournament on Aug 15th followed by a 31-19 victory over a Bracknell Development squad on the 22nd.
On the 29th Risey took both 1s and 2s to Dagenham to play May and Baker who were beaten by the black and ambers in the National Vase last season, the only loss M&B suffered all season, and came away with a well deserved 31-19 win with the 2s winning even more emphatically 43-17.
The final warm up game was against Dorset Dockers from Southern Counties South (lvl 7) on a bright day at Watchetts and the black and ambers put on a show for the supporters winning by 7 tries to 2 which included a hat trick from Tommy Allen who has returned to Watchetts following his extended world tour.
The squad, which contained a number of last years U18s, were in general just too quick for the visitors, more organised and were very strong in defence.

Next week the season starts in earnest with the black and ambers going to US Portsmouth in the 1st round of the Senior Vase while the 2s have a friendly away at Sutton and Epsom.

As far as the squad goes Head Coach Gareth Rise has been able to retain his coaching team from last year although this season the ever popular JJ will no longer figure in the match day 18 - he will be concentrating on the backs while Mark Odejobi will continue to work to improve the defensive abilities of the squad and veteran Alun Rise will be focussing largely on the front 5 with Gareth Desborough continuing with the 2s.
Physio support for the squad will again be provided by Optimum Sports Therapy of Camberley who did such a good job keeping the squad healthy last season.
Gareth is has worked hard to enhance the squad with several new signings to cover for the loss of four of last seasons group who have moved on eg Ali Wade, prop, has signed for Wharfedale in National 1, Tommy Dunne, fly half, has moved on to London Scottish and Ben Bowen, scrum half, is at Leeds University and the unfortunate lock Tom Keith has sadly picked up another knee injury and is unlikely to figure in the squad this season.
Roger Wood will continue to skipper the side from scrum half and the squad has already been boosted by the return of back three player Tom Allen from his sabbatical in Australia, several of last seasons Academy squad and prop Jack Robinson who has committed to another full season.
