Sunny Start for the Black and Ambers

Well the season is slowly coming to life as, after weeks of training, the squad enjoyed their first game of the new season.
With almost 40 players turning up everyone had the chance to show off their skills to Rich and JJ on a glorious afternoon in Slough - with plenty of aircraft but no bombs.
The game was split into 4 quarters with regular changes of personnel and to some local spectators it was just the warmup act for Slough RFC's beer festival which was in full swing by the time the ref blew for full time - great beer and good music if you like Country!!.
Overall it was an encouraging performance by the black and ambers with plenty of good attacking rugby but this was so often spoiled by a poor last touch - but as this was the first time that many of the team had played together and with the personnel changing frequently during the game the Camberley coaches, and supporters, left Slough feeling pretty satisfied with the progress of the squad.
Clearly there will be lots of work this week on scrummaging to prepare for law changes which are to be implemented this season and created some issues during the game - looks like the new scrummaging machine will be well used this Tuesday!!
And yes for those interested, the final score was 5 tries to 2 (I think) and the supporters MoM was Hoff who showed his fitness by playing all 4 quarters and was unlucky not to have been awarded a try following one of his many penetrating runs although Hilly almost won the vote following his 30m dash which left the rest of his team for dead.

The final pre season game will be played on Saturday 7th when we entertain a Castaways 15 playing for the Presidents Trophy.
