This week, the coaches focused on passing and ball distribution, helping the players develop the confidence and skills to move the ball quickly around the team. The session was packed with passing drills that combined technique and teamwork with plenty of friendly competition, as the players raced against each other while working on their passing and catching.
The boys and girls threw themselves into every activity, showing plenty of enthusiasm and determination. There was also some great encouragement between teammates, with players helping each other and putting the coaches' advice into practice.

The session then moved on to a series of matches, giving everyone the chance to put their passing into practice. There were some excellent examples of players running forward, drawing defenders and then passing to teammates in space – exactly the sort of rugby the coaches are looking to develop.
The matches also gave the players more experience of the larger pitches they will be playing on at festivals this season. With more space available, they are beginning to understand how to spread out, support each other and make the most of the pitch.
The squad also continued to get used to the six-tag turnover rule, which they will be playing under at festivals. There is plenty for the players to take in, but they are picking it up quickly and, most importantly, enjoying themselves while they learn.
Come and join the U8s
The season is only just getting started, so there is still plenty of time to get involved. Whether your child has played rugby before or is completely new to the game, the U8s is a great place to get active, make friends and build confidence.
If your child enjoys being active, loves running around and wants to be part of a team, come along and give rugby a try.
We'd love to welcome some new faces to the U8s and introduce more children to the fun of rugby at Camberley.
