Camberley RFC announces the passing of ex Camberley President Tony Carter

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of a CRFC stalwart, Tony Carter, on Tuesday 17th Jan.
Tony was a larger than life character who, in his time at Camberley, played regularly for the 1st XV, organised a number of the club's international tours, served as President, was an original member of the Honours Club, and was also a Hon Life Member of the club and was a leading light in the formation of the mini and junior section of the club in the 1970's.
Although in recent years Tony has been living in the Midlands he still visited the club regularly and was due to attend the Golden Oldies lunch on Jan 7th and meet up with all of his friends from the club but was not well enough to travel.

The following is a statement from his family regarding the funeral arrangements:

"It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father Tony Carter.

A memorial service on behalf of Tony is being held at the St. Johns Church, Coventry Rd in Hinckley, Leicestershire at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday 24th January.

Following the service refreshments will be served at Tony and Sue's house in Barwell, near Hinckley.  Please let us know if you plan to attend.

Donations in Tony's memory can be made to Wooden Spoon, the Childrens Charity of Rugby (both dear to Tony's heart) at woodenspoon.org.uk

Simon, Ben & Sam."
