Ladies of Camberley Rugby Club you are invited to come along to the next Rugby taster session here at Camberley RFC, Watchetts Recreation Ground, GU15 2SR next Wednesday starting at 7.30pm
This is a fun, social event for you to give the game a go with like minded people. We are a mixed group of fitness levels, experience, ages and background and we would love you to join us for a taster session next Wednesday (11th Sept) and get a feel of what we do and why we love it so much.
Did you know rugby is one of the fastest growing sports for women. Our Club has a rich history of womens rugby, the first female team that ran out here at Watchetts was way back in 1990. They were the originals, The Camberley Cocktails as the shirt sponsor was Bols a cocktail company. There were only 7 leagues in the whole country, fast forward to 2019 and today there is double that in the SouthEast and SouthWest regions alone. The womens team progressed and was boosted by the girls section, we are proud to say we were a pioneer club for female rugby and played a part in making the game what it is know as today developing players for England, Scotland and Wales with many representing CRFC at County, Region and Divisional levels with some refereeing at IRB level and others taking up coaching roles to pass on their passion and experience to the next generation of players. England shirts from 1994 Sarah Escott to 2003 The Matthew Sisters can be seen in the club house.
We are starting a new era of Womens rugby and we invite you to be part of it. The session is suitable for all women aged 18yrs and up, we have players in their mid 50s joining us to learn new skills and get fit with friends. We are a brand new team if you are a couch to 5k person or a pro athlete, maybe you have never played a sport or tried your hand at many, this event is for you. If you have rugby experience come along to, we are developing a new team and have fixtures in place for this season.
Most of our players started with zero rugby knowledge having attended an InnerWarrior just like this. It is a great opportunity to try something new and make new friends, learn new skills and get fit together as team. We have players from most Kid First age groups, mum’s just like you who joined us for a session to give it a go. Maybe you are a partner of a senior player, or sister or bar supporter. This is open to all of you and your friends.
