Neighbouring teams Aldershot & Fleet, Camberley and Farnham celebrated International Womens Day with a 10’s tournament.
The recent weather has put stop to many fixtures over the past weeks so all clubs were thankful for the opportunity to put their boots on and play rugby. Facing hail and rain and even a last minute pitch closer, 50 women battled though the mud making every minute count cheered on by a dedicated throng of supporters.
All three teams have recently formed and are testimony to the growth in the Womens game as they are all building in player numbers side by side.
Camberley Cocktails were out in force the previous day as part of the 11,000 strong crowd supporting England Womens v Wales six nation clash at Harlequins the Stoop which saw England win 66-7 to remain unbeaten in this years campaign. Camberley Womens team were awarded free tickets from the RFU in recognition of their continuing work to promote Womens rugby though the RFU Innerwarrior programme which they generously gifted as the team day out had already been decided on.
