Hammersmith Kicked off against one of the strongest sides the 2s had been able to field this year, conditions were Sunny but cool and a bit soft underfoot. Cambo soaked up some early pressure however following a good turn over and exit from the returning Ben Stevens, we saw Cambo apply pressure in the Hammersmith final 3rd. A knock on by the Hammersmith 10 and a dominant scrum by Cambo resulted in a penalty giving Cambo a line out close to the Hammersmith line. Good work at the lineout saw the pack convert the rolling maul into a try for the Captain Lewis, converted by Ben.
The second try was the highlight of the day for the 2s, following a lineout on the halfway line, a perfectly executed move saw the backs combine, good pace by James Richardson (back from Uni) put Dan Cavidi in under the post practically untouched.
The rest of the first half saw the 2s play some of the best rugby they have played all season, going into the break leading 40-7. Fortunate with the bounce of the ball at times but firing in all aspects of their game.
Changes and a couple of injuries early in the second half and a much-improved Hammersmith side saw a slightly disjointed second half from Cambo, however their defence held strong throughout. Two more tries towards the end of the game saw Cambo run out 52-7 victors.
A strong performance by all 19 players, next week the 2s are away to Sutton & Epsom in the League.
