First home match in seven years!

Sunday saw the return of Camberley Womens rugby team as they took to the field for their first home match in seven years. The newly formed team have been building towards this day for almost two years and it would not have happened without the passion and enthusiasm for the game of coach Liz Frost.

The idea of putting together a new womens side had been bantered around the club for a couple of seasons with no-one within the club able to commit the time and energy it takes to raise a new team, until Liz showed up.

Liz played briefly for the original Camberleycocktails and all three of her children have followed in her footsteps learning the craft here at Camberley RFC. As her oldest daughter was reaching the transition age of mins to youth Liz made contact with Kim Johnson and joined the girls section. With the opportunity to up-skill her coaching and pull on a playing shirt Liz was the catalyst for the new beginning and the first Inner Warrior was hosted January 2018. Her extensive rugby knowledge and complete passion for the game, has been a driving force getting the team where they are today

Yesterday the home side were complemented by opposition Streatham & Croydon Development team on their attitude, determination and skill level as Camberley Women played with 100% grit right up to the final whistle. The final score was lots to Streatham & Croydon and none to the host side, not that the supporting crowd were counting.

Thank you to everyone cheering us on, friends, family and curious club members including the pink jackets. The support is very much appreciated.

This season is very much about development of individuals and team in every aspect of the game, a lot was learnt and the squad are keen to get onto the training pitch before their next run out away to Thurrock 10th November and next home match Sunday 17th November v Gravesend
