Our Magnificent Seven Smash their Charity Ride

So after the long build up our intrepid Charity team, ably supported by Tweedeldum aka Dave and his mate Stu, smashed their challenge and achieved their initial target of £3,500 and this despite Voighty crashing on at least 3 occasions during the 2 days. I must add, in his defence, that he vehemently denies being the perpetrator in any of the collisions.
Being serious for just a moment this really was an amazing effort by Our Magnificent Seven - Laura, Poppy, Kirstyn, Tom, Brizzle, Marvin aka Greg and Voighty and there is still the opportunity to donate and achieve the magic £4K total which would mean a massive £1000 to each of the amazing charities they are supporting. ]Donate now

The following is Greg's much awaited account of this memorable journey (he claims that he needed a week to recover!!) and again please, if you can, help us make it to £4K

The team gathered very early on a nice crisp morning to begin the big task of cycling the 200 miles into the Brecon Beacons from Camberley. Day 1 started off well and the team flew threw the first stage arriving at Aldermaston in good spirit and in positive spirits however leg 2 provided some drama (eventually laughs) as Kirstyn aka "the Swiper" took a right turn while going down a straight road and taking Sam out (luckily at a slower pace as it was at the crest of a large hill

Thankfully nobody was hurt except Sam's bike which lost a number of gears for the duration on the ride. He was having a nightmare though and became known as "The Common Denominator" having tiny collisions with nearly ever other rider

The team was able to fly through the rest of Day 1 arriving at the bridge well before we had anticipated mainly due to the fantastic support team of Dave Dunsby and Stu Palmer who kept us sane and hydrated

After two dinners and a big sleep the team set off for Day 2 which would be a lot harder due to the hills we would be climbing later in the day. After flying through the first two stages through Newport and Cardiff the team stopped for some lunch and recovery

Stage 3 loomed as a tough test and a huge climb up to Bridgend from Cardiff with some very long hills starting to really test the mental fortitude of the group. The sight of Dave and Stu however was of immense relief and they were probably shocked about how happy we were to see them

Along came the last leg of 26 miles up through Port Talbot and into Crynant which was relatively tame compared to Leg 3 however provided a lovely 2 mile climb into Crynant right at the finish line but the realisation of the cycle nearly being completed spurred us all on to complete it quite quickly

As the 200 mile cycle was not enough the team then entered a Beach Rugby tournament on Sunday fielding a mixed team in the men's division. Thankfully we only had a couple games to play as legs started to feel very heavy very quickly but it was a great laugh and thanks to Swansea Beach Rugby for the invite

The biggest thank you must go to Dave and Stu for keeping us going and providing so much support - hopefully they enjoyed it too!

A large thank you to all those who donated too it is very appreciated and for any other late donations the page is still open and everything we raise is going to support some very worthwhile causes
