Alex Matthews shortlisted for Player of the Year again

England Women sevens trio Holly Aitchison, Abbie Brown and Alex Matthews have all been shortlisted by their team mates for the player of the year award.
The England Women’s sevens player of the year award is presented to the outstanding player from the 2018/19 season, as voted by the women's squad. The winner will be announced at the 2019 RPA awards on 8 May.
As one of the most eagerly-anticipated events in the rugby calendar, the RPA Awards recognise and celebrate the very best of the best in rugby.
Taking place at Twickenham Stadium, the event will see a host of awards announced, including the coveted Players' Player and Young Player of the Year, as voted for by the players.
Holly Aitchison, who was nominated for this award last season said: “I’m so surprised to receive recognition again this year from the girls, I’m incredibly honoured. I’ll forever be grateful for the support of my teammates and proud to be part of such a special group of players.”
Abbie Brown echoed those sentiments: “To be nominated by my teammates means the world to me. They’re the ones you go through everything with, so to have their support is incredible.”
Alex Matthews won this award last season, and added: “It’s a huge honour to be nominated for this award by my teammates. It’s been an enjoyable yet challenging couple of years for me, but I am grateful for the girls support and the brilliant team around me.”
