Army links reinstated as numbers grow

Sunday saw the Cocktails cross the Dartford bridge to play Thurrock Ladies 2nd Development team. Pitching themselves against high level opposition, the newly formed womens team are gaining valuable experience transferring Wednesday training on to the field. A hard fought match rewarded the cocktails with a number of trys and conversations offsetting Thurrock's high try count with both sides buzzing at the final whistle. The Cocktails have a reputation for welcoming new players of all abilities, whilst this was only the 2nd or 3rd match for most, this team also consisted of brand new players shoulder to shoulder with new experienced players stepping out in the Black and Amber.

The newest addition to the Cocktails family is Cpl Emily White of the Royal Military Police. White started her rugby career aged 15 yrs in her home town for Exeter Saracens progressing though the age groups and Captained Devon & South West for 3yrs, White was also part of the Advanced Conditioning for Elite Students Academy whilst at Exeter Collage. Unfortunately Emilys rugby pathway was cut short as she suffered a serious brain injury resulting from a car accident which took her out of the sport she loved for 6 years. Joining the army in 2015 she was given the opportunity to put her boots back on and developed quickly as part of the ARU Women (Army Rugby Union) and has played far and wide. Her passion for the game is such that White’s talents enabled her to cross over to rugby league, and she is immensely proud to Skipper the ARL Women (Army Rugby League) a player of many talents balancing both games along side her local rugby club.

Camberley womens team are proud that White has choosen to join them in their foundation year and reinstate traditional links the club has with the army.
