U12B's make good start to Waterfall Cup, but fall just short

In the B Team’s first Waterfall Cup game, we were away at Dorking and after a very close match we narrowly lost 15-10.

The first half was a very physical affair, and the tackling from both sides was very strong. Eventually the deadlock was broken with Cameron making a crashing run from deep inside his own half to score. He came close to scoring again straight from the restart when Dorking picked him out with their ensuing kickoff and was finally brought down 2 metres from their try line!

We turned round 5-0 up, but unfortunately we went to sleep for the first 10 minutes of the second half and let 3 tries in. The last 10 minutes was a different story and we scored again – with Cameron again crashing over - from the half way line!

Unfortunately time ran out before we could have possibly got another try to draw the match – which would have been a fair result.

Special mention has to be made to all the backs whom moved the ball about and didn’t make any handling errors in doing so - in what can only be described as horrendous conditions for running rugby. Eelis, in the centre, had a great game and was the Tackler of the Match, but our Man of the Match, nominated by the Dorking team, was Cameron – whom they described as our Juggernaut!

This was first time some of our players had played a competitive game, but the team played very well together. The team has come so far since the start of the season, and it was great to see the effort and determination from every member of the team.
