FINAL POSITION – 3rd Overall
Nineteen teams took part in this U11 tournament at Reading Abbey with clubs from Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Surrey represented, of which some local teams had more than one team representing their club
All teams played 4 games and the final was played between the teams that gained the most points.
Camberley won all their 4 games and gained additional bonus points in two of the games. This gave the team 18 points.
Unfortunately the squad missed out on the final as two other teams had gained additional bonus points in all four of their games which gave them 20 points.
The tournament was played to the RFU’s New Rules of Play for U11’s to accommodate the Hampshire clubs which have been playing with these rules.
These rules are similar to the rugby the squad has played at U9’s with uncontested 3 man scrums but does not have any line outs and kicking is allowed.
Unfortunately this meant the majority of players and the referees had to adapt to the revised rules.

Camberley took a squad of 14 players to this tournament.
Squad Players: Joey, Adam D, Edward, Harry, Chris, JLS , Adam O, Stephen , Louis, Toby, Josh , Luke , Jacob, George
A big thanks to the coaches Dave Dunsby and Chris Wakeman and to Stuart Palmer for First Aid and admin.

1st Game: Camberley 2 – 0 Wimbourne
This was a very well contested game, with both teams putting in great effort.
In the 1st half Camberley competed hard for the ball with many tackles, plenty of rucking and positive forward runs from all the team. There were two good kicks from open play into space. The team came close 3 times to scoring from good forward running but were let down by indecision on the final pass. Eventually George found a gap and ran from inside Camberley’s half evading the opposition’s tackles to score.
The 2nd half started off frustrating with some missed tackles and one dimensional rugby. Eventually Camberley put together some good teamwork and they started passing the ball out to the forwards. From a typical forward run from Chris the ball was passed along the line and Harry scored Camberley’s second try.

2nd Game: Camberley 7 – 0 Reading Abbey

This was Reading Abbey’s second team.
The game was over before half time as we had scored the maximum allowed number of tries.
From each kicked re-start the ball was either collected by one of our squad or Camberley tackled the opposition player, won the ball and then went forward to score.
1st try – Chris scored by bursting his way through their defence.
2nd try – From a quick pass by JLS, Jacob raced to the line to score.
3rd try – JLS broke through their defence and as he was tackled passed the ball out to Jacob who run down the wing to score.
4th try – A great kick from Josh enabling Chris to collect and crash over.
5th try – Collected and passed along the line for Josh to score.
6th try - Chris run straight through the defence.
7th try – Good following up from the kick to win the ball which led to Stephen scoring.

3rd Game: Camberley 2 – 0 Ringwood

The squad knew this would be a tough game, as they have been playing to the New Rules of Play and some of our squad had played them at the 2013 Minehead Festival.
Camberley started out tentatively but as the confidence grew they encamped themselves in the opponents half. Constant pressure with positive forward play and rucking was rewarded when Toby pushed through low over the line to score.
The game continued with both teams making good tackles and rucking, and a gap could not be found by either team.
In the second half Ringwood kicked a penalty which was well caught by Josh from where the ball was taken forward and well distributed along the line, out to Jacob on the wing where he sprinted to the line to score. For the remainder of the game we defended well even under renewed pressure from Ringwood.

4th Game: Camberley 7 – 0 Redingsians

This one of the three teams entered by Redingsians.
The game was over just after half time as we had scored the maximum allowed number of tries.
From each kicked start the ball was either collected by Camberley or they tackled the opposition player, won the ball and then went forward to score.
Ist Half
1st try – From a penalty 5m from the opponents line George found a way through the tackles to score.
2nd try – From a good kick from the restart, a good ruck to win the ball back and then good passing along the backs allowed Edward out on the wing to run down the touchline to score.
3rd try – Following a good maul JLS drove over the try line to score.
4th try – Chris collected the ball and ran straight through the middle.
Redingsians then collected the ball on their try line and one of their players sprinted through our defence into our half but a great tackle by Jacob playing as full back position stopped a possible try.
5th try – Scored by Louis with a great twisting run from half way.
6th try - Harry kicked the ball up to the oppositions try line by the corner and a speedy Adam O collected the ball and crashed over before the opposition could put in a tackle.
2nd Half
7th try –The Redingsians kick at the start of the second half was well caught by Harry who ran at the opposition and then passed it out to Toby on the wing who side stepped his way through to score.
