U13 Blacks win on 1st League game at Old Alleynians

Double delight for U13’s 1st league matches of the season

An early start for the Blacks to Dulwich facing Old Alleynians B’s in Surrey League 4 match.
The boys (17) were ready for this being led by Team Captain Tadgh.
Early attack was asked for by the coaches and this certainly happened straight out of the blocks playing downhill with the wind. 5 minutes in and the ball came along the line to a new centre Andy who put the gas burners on and ran in under the posts to be converted by Tadgh.
Straight back into OA half from the off with constant pressure from the forwards making slow but constructive movement forward then a loose ball at a ruck picked up by Ollie W who pops it to Ollie T looping round and down the wing to score (12mins).
OA gather themselves and come back to work their way up and some poor rucking by Blacks allow OA on the score board. Again OA venture into the Blacks 22 captain Tadgh put a high kick over OA and a chase by Andy who puts pressure on the full back makes a tackle for the forwards to ruck over quick ball out to Andy who strolls through for his 2nd try (20 mins).
From the start the boys work their way back to half way then a break from 2nd row Imrule moving a pace looks out side whilst drawing 2 players to send a pass out to Andy who runs in again for his 3rd try (24 mins). Half Time the score is 26 – 5.

Second half starts and OA are camped in the Blacks 22 but they stay strong tackling and realigning outstand tackles by all the boys but some immense tackles from Adam , Alex and Max W that halt the onslaught then trying to clear the line an unexpected kick to clear the pressure is charged down an OA go over to move closer. The boys gather themselves and start on the offensive with Alex O on a charge down the wing only to be called back for a forward pass that might been seen as dubious but that’s rugby. Moving into the final quarter the Blacks continue to find the energy for one last attack and it’s that centre again galloping through this time for his 4th (44mins) after the forwards have worked like Trojans to break down the OA defence.
Excellent scrummaging by the forwards and the backs stood fast in defence fantastic Team work from all the boys.
Final score Black 33 (5 Try’s) Old Alleynians 10 (2 Try’s)

It’s our final Kids First Champion for the season! David ‘Flats’ Flatman and two special guests surprise Ellingham & Ringwood RFC.
