What could be better than a day of rugby on the Easter Bank Holiday Friday? Spring sunshine, run around, play some games..... or was it?? with the recent weather it was a little muddy and slippy underfoot, and the mini beast from the east made a return to chill things down. Everything that should have made playing rugby a real challenge for the team! However, with two teams entered we did exceptionally well. Running around to stay warm, hiding out of the rain between games the boys carried on as though it was just another day.
We had to manage the number of games and time the boys were out in the cold, but making sure boys were kept warm and moving we had a really fun day. Boys being able to get filthy and not get in trouble!!! what could be better?
I have no idea what parents cars looked like afterwards, having taken my boys into the changing room and getting the into some clean dry clothes, we were homeward bound for hot showers, change, and then on to friends we've made through rugby for an afternoon socialising (inside, warm and dry)
A huge thank you again to the parents, standing in the cold, supporting the boys and dealing with mud covered kit.
Now to cleaning down the team gazebo, tag belts, kit bags and getting ready for the end of season Surrey festival.....
