As the whole of Surrey appeared to descend onto Dorking for a festival across multiple age groups, we headed over with three teams to show what Camberley can do. Struck with sickness and losing a couple of coaches and refs, we called on our parents that have been DBS cleared by the club, to step in and help get the boys to the pitches at the right time and make sure they roll their subs throughout the game. A huge thanks to the parents for helping out and a special note to Drew (Eddie Jones) Morris for taking a team and looking after them.
The boys as ever knew exactly what to do and showed their capability and team spirit. There are some fantastic friendships building in the team and seeing the boys both on and off the pitch playing around is amazing.
It was good to have other age groups at the same event and being able to walk around and see what can be expected in the years to come, it gives the kids and parents a really good understanding of how the game will develop and what will be involved at the different ages.
All three teams showed some fantastic skills and going between the teams and speaking to the coaches, I got to see some great rugby from the boys. Refereeing other games there are some really good clubs across Surrey, Camberley are right up there at the top of them and look to be going on to be a great squad for the future.
