An under staffed squad fail to capitalise on there strengths
The week after a great league match victory we turn the table 180 degrees.
The squad fielded was short 5 players so we ran out with no subs at all. The team dominated the scrum and the line out for most of the first half and some of the second half, however the players that were doing all the work compensating for the less fit players eventually ran out of steam.
Having said that we did not manage to use our domination in the set-piece to our advantage at all, visiting there try line several time to come back without points. We were out gunned in the wide game which the opposition identified and used to there advantage repeatedly. Our smothering defence from the week before was total absent from this game, we doped off tackles continually and our defensive line was not in place. This is a learning experience for the squad and I do hope we can find our form in the next league game this Sunday.
