Junior Academy squad secure a win in their first League match.
So the first League match has been played now and the result was good for our squad. Scoring 5 tries and converting 3 and only letting through 1 try, off the bat give you an idea of the way the game went. In attack the forwards played a close game well which was dictated by the appalling weather. They drove up the pitch phase after phase, this was successful in drawing in there defenders time and again. Off that platform the backs were able to launch some great attacking moves which were very successful. The most successful was a play the put the number 12 into some space in front of the poles, he capitalised on this to run in a very well worked try.
The combination of our ability to dominate upfront and to challenge out wide kept the opposition on the back foot for the majority of the game. Two forwards were put into space and successfully put points on the score board, one from the number 7 and another from the second row. The remaining two tries were both scored buy our number 9, who ever vigilante managed to find the space and run in excellent tries.
Our defensive game was up to the challenge which is evident in having only allowed 1 try through. The line speed smothered their key players, not allowing them any time or space to play in.
All the players who participated played well and most importantly the team was put before all else and that is how we won this game.
I am immensely proud of the rugby played on Sunday, well done lads.
