Camberley RFC vs. Farnborough
Camberley kicked off against local rivals Farnborough, looking for a win before a well deserved Christmas break. With certain players unavailable, Camberley showed their versatility, many players stepped up to fill in exceptionally well – especially in the front row. Many opposition players were familiar to the Camberley side, however all friendliness went out the window after the first whistle.
The home side kicked off and after some strong carries from Camberley forwards, Sid took his opportunity to score under the posts. Soon after some nice passing play sent new boy Sam flying down the wing to score a great try. Unfortunately Camberley may have got too complacent, as Farnborough managed to pull back with two well taken tries. Although Camberley did not back down, Jake squirmed his way through, showing his pace to score two tries. Camberley were awarded a penalty, far right by the 22, Aaron’s quick wits allowed him to tap and go, he ran up the right wing, destroying anything in his path and scored by the posts.
Overall Camberley played very well, and the score would have been more but for the referee (Neil Fotheringham! Firm but fair and coming back to us to help appreciated.). I can prove this because Paul was positive at the end of the game, saying that there was no man of the match because we all played out of our skin! Special mention to Scott Davies who showed his pure class as a water boy, which he should probably do more often! Finally, Camberley can enjoy the Christmas break at ease, after finally settling the score on home ground with Farnborough.
