In our match against Esher, we lost 26-17 away. It felt like a close game throughout, with Esher coming away with the win due to only a few errors in passing and on-the-line defence. Both the forwards and backs played well in their positions, with the forwards winning lots of scrums and the backs breaking through the line and defending Esher’s attacks well.
Esher had a very strong attack which caused Camberley to miss lots of tackles, leaving our defence outnumbered at times. They were also more dominant in the line outs with Camberley coming away only having won a few by the end of the match. However Camberley also had a strong attack, with players running onto the ball from good passes and well-worked play.
This was shown at the start of the match where the backs managed to work a try in the first few minutes of the match, but Esher also had this strength which Camberley struggled to defend against throughout the match. However Camberley did work hard to the end, coming away with a loss from a fairly even game with important areas to work on for future games.
