Great day at the office

Having lost 2 league games on the trot, CRFC Vets were desperate to get some points on the board. They didn't want or expect to get them via a walkover. Old Cranleighans clearly running scared, called off the game late Thursday.

With a record number of players available, Toby was now married, and everyone except Jacko was available. Rocky our leader pulled out all the stops and found us a home!, no away!, no home! game against Chobham.

The starting 15 began with a convincing five minutes of play, Fothers then had one of his characteristic runs, which unfortunately ended with an equally well known knock on 2 metres from the Chobham line. The run of play was with Camberley for another 10 minutes or so before our first try was scored. At this point predictably Camberley relaxed a little too much and let Chobham have far too much ball and they scored. Dave Dunsby having been denied ten minutes earlier, backed himself this time scored his first ever try for the Vets. A few minutes later a great forward effort gave Camberley their third try at the stroke of half time. Half time score 17-7.

The second half saw quite a few changes, some old and some newly qualified Vets took it to Chobham, some of the play was a joy to watch. Chobham were unable to score again and Camberley began running in tries at will. Al Vetch scored his first ever ! and Scotty celebrated a little too much after his !!

It was really good to see so many supporters out and so many guys up for a game - it was home so time will tell if we can replicate any of this at the away games over the coming weeks.
