Cam Conquer Mud and Swamp Park

Despite a very muddy pitch and the annoyingly persistent drizzle, Cam managed to rise above the conditions to score 15 tries in a one sided game against Rosslyn Park and maintain their unbeaten League run.
The game started with both sides taking some time to adjust to the difficult conditions but with barely 5 mins played Cam moved into the visitors 22 and when they won a scrum against the head #8 Rich found Musa who put Seb over in the corner.
The restart was well managed and we saw Rich again force his way into the opposition half and good hands left BenB free to race in from 30m.
The scoring continued when Cam won a lineout on their 10m line and a neat pop pass to Musa saw the winger shred the defence to dot down after a 50m dash.
Again from the restart Cam were soon back in the red zone following a 40m bullocking run by young Mua and when the ball was recycled Lils crossed for the try so the score was 24-0 after 18 mins.
The scoring continued when a good break by skipper Lurch saw him free Mua for another score.
From the restart again Cam showed how dangerous they could be when great rugby by Musa, BenB and Lurch saw flanker BenH on the charge from halfway and although he was stopped just short he used his strength to dot down, making the score 34-0 at half time.
By now Park were struggling with injuries and straight from the kick a great break by Jack Lear saw Lils continue the movement before a neat inside pass saw fellow centre Omar cross.
By now it was really getting too easy for Cam when, again from the restart, the ball was moved wide to BenH who charged into the 22 and good hands by Omar saw him release Jacl Lear for his second try.
The game then became even more one sided as, despite having moved to uncontested scrums and the very resolute defence shown by Park, scores started to come almost at will.
At frst we saw Rich, who was clearly enjoying himself at #8, ripping the ball free at a maul before managing to release Musa. The young winger then fed Gavin who crossed for his first of the afternoon.
Again from the restart we saw Lurch charging forward and the relief was clear when the lock found winger Gavin on hand to take the pass and sprint the final 30m for his second try within 3 mins.
The restart saw yet another 'boshing' drive by Rich before the ball was moved out wide to young Seb on the wing whose pace was just too much for the opposition.
The next try was textbook as, from a driving maul in the Park 22, great awareness between James Armstrong and Gavin saw the winger cross for his third try and the score had moved on to 74-0.
The restart saw the ball reach BenH on halfway and the flanker pinned back his ears and charged over and within a couple of mins he had profitted from a good break by Lils to claim his hattrick.
The final score saw skipper Lurch collecting the ball on halfway and start his charge down the touchline secretly hoping that one of the speedsters would join him and finish off the score. However this was not to be and the sight of the secondrow forward galloping down the park to touch down under the posts was a joy to behold and as the ref then decided to cut short proceedings by blowing for full time it also signalled much relief for the supporters who could retire to the clubhouse and commence the drying out process.
So overall a very good performance in pretty horrible conditions and we should also applaud the determination of the visitors who found themselves with a mountain to climb very early on but stuck at the task until the end. The final score of 91-0 was made up of 15 tries and 8 conversions by James Armstrong.
