Cam

Cam entertained Old Blues at Watchetts on a day when conditions could be described as 'damp' and yet, despite being overwhelmed in the set scrums, they managed to play some very attractive open rugby, scoring 10 tries, 7 of them in the second half where their fitness clearly told.
The first half saw the black and ambers struggle against a much bulkier pack who had the nudge at every scrum. However they weathered the storm and by half time had managed to score 3 tries through Nat, Wreaksy and Jordan.
The second half saw the fitness and the handling skills of the side dominate and although still being pushed around at the scrums they managed to turnover sufficient ball and steal enough lineouts to allow them to play their running game.
So turning round 17-0 to the good the team soon had the scoreboard ticking again with a second try for the skipper and one for winger Kev and by the 50th min had stretched their lead to 36 points with a converted try by U17s centre Sintjin.
The speed and handling of Cam were now really in evidence when young fly half Will easily won the 25m dash to score under the posts again the try was converted.
The half century was brought up by hooker Dan who took a pass on the visitors 10m line and left the opposition standing to score another converted try.
On 70 mins a great lineout take and drive by Dan Burnell saw Cam into the red zone and after several attempts Sintjin forced his way over for his second try.
The final act was left to pack leader and second row Dan who on 77 mins found the gas to sprint 25m to score close to the posts. This try was also converted by fullback Rich who had 5 successful kicks with Joe Bell kicking 2.
Overall a very good performance by the 2s with some really good skills on show despite the wet conditions - a tough time for the forwards at scrum time but apart from that a really positive performance which no doubt pleased the coach as much as it did the spectators. Next week the 2s travel to Warlingham to, hopefully, continue their unbeaten start to the season.
