Cam continue their pre-season with promising performance v ORs

With just 2 weeks to go before the first League game Cam welcomed Old Reigatians, who finished as runners up to us last season and just missed out on promotion to London 1S, to Watchetts for our second warm up game.

Watchetts, happily, looked much greener than in recent weeks and is hopefully on the road to recovery aided by the recent rain but clearly could benefit from more before our first home game in September.

As is often the case at this stage, some of the 1st XV regulars were still relaxing on some beach far away, but Risey and Ash still had a good sized squad to select from and were able to try out a number of new players.

Playing four 20 min quarters the game saw the black and ambers dominate in the first session and playing their expansive game scored 3 tries, 2 for JamieT and one for Oyoni.
The second period saw the visitors claim more possession but they were still unable to spend any time in the Cam half .

Following the break Cam kept up the pressure and a neat behind the back pass by Oyoni saw Mac cross for a try which was followed by another touch down by Hoff.

The final quarter was somewhat spoiled when the game moved to uncontested scrums but tries by TommyA and Hasty completed the scoring.
So, for this stage in the season this was a very promising display with plenty of expansive rugby, loads of pace across the squad and some delightful handling by backs and forwards - already a great testament to the quality of the training sessions by the whole of the coaching team.

A 2s/ 3s squad also got into the pre season spirit when they entertained Egham and in a competitive game the black and ambers came out on top with veteran Benny showcasing his game management skills in a quality performance.

Next week 1s 2s and 3s are all playing at Dorking at what should be a great day.
